OLS Bash Installer - Adding PHP 8.3?

Hi:

I was wondering if anyone knows when PHP 8.3 support might be added to the OLS bash installer script (https://raw.githubusercontent.com/litespeedtech/ols1clk/master/ols1clk.sh)

The PHP version list goes from 7.1 thru 8.2 right now. I'm assuming that there's some technical reason why 8.3 has not been added to the array yet?

We will add it once the PHP 8.3 is ready with the LiteSpeed repository.

hey @Cold-Egg - was just wondering if you could check in with the powers that be about PHP 8.3 and give us all a status update?

To the powers that be - It's very hard to defend OLS as a viable option for new projects when it's not on top of the basics. PHP 8.3 was released 4 months ago after many months in beta. So there was lots of time to prioritize supporting it. It's getting much much harder to justify to customers that OLS should be considered for new projects when the latest versions for stuff isn't supported.

Actually, the PHP8.3 main packages are out on the LiteSpeed Repo, but not every package is ready yet.
Check the available packages on https://rpms.litespeedtech.com/debian/pool/main/jammy/

Feel free to give it a try. No need to report for the missing PHP8.3 packages, since we are still working on it.

Hi @Cold-Egg - thanks for the update - much appreciated. Until it hits the installer script though, I guess the assumption is that it's not really ready?

No problem. Not sure which installer script you mean, if you want to run PHP83 on WordPress or do some PHP coding, then it is ready to use.

Looking at it, it should just be a simple update to the array of supported php versions - 3 characters or so. But since it hasn't been done, makes me wonder if it was simply overlooked or if the devs are worried about something in the PHP 8.3 packages you mentioned earlier.

As I said, some dependency packages are not ready, e.g. redis/memcache. But if you don't need those, and just need to develop with PHP83, then you can modify the script and run it.

@Cold-Egg - unfortunately redis/memcached isn't optional in a production WP environment so I guess we still need to wait or use alternatives for projects that require php 8.3.

Some PHP. 83 packages are still ready on pecl yet, e.g. memcache.

If you need the packages now, you might need to build the package from the source.

Can I compile the PHP to support Redis by myself in the OLS's control panel.

I try to recompile it with this parameters, But it's not effect.

'--enable-redis' '--enable-exif' '--with-imagick' '--enable-litespeed' '--with-gd'
