How does Updating/upgrading Work?

New OLS user here and I'm just wondering how does updating from say 1.3.7 to 1.4.4 (or any new stable build) will work?

Will there be a loss of config files and settings?

Sorry for not replying. Somehow I missed this.

There should not be. If you upgrade from 1.3.x to 1.4.x your configs will be automatically updated to plain text configs (from XML). If you see any loss of configs, please let us know. That would be a bug.
