I ran chown and ended up assigning all files to root. How can I restore file owners to default?

I used chown, and accidentally changed ownership of all files to root. How can I reset this?

WordPress returns a 404 error when changing permalinks from plain to post name. I used to resolve this using sudo service lsws restart However, the issue still persists. What are other solutions for this?
